Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that contains numerous conveniences aside from the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
