Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight table games.
